Some good news today from the BIOMASS NETWARK GROUP
Iceni 2 has just withdrawn its planning application for a 45 MWe biomass power station in Lympne (near Folkestone), which would have burned 300,000 tonnes of virgin wood chips a year, much of it imported. The application had been opposed by several Parish Councils, many local residents, and the Kent Downs AONB. The developer withdraw the application just days before it would have been determined – and most likely rejected – by Shepway District Council’s planning committee. The Planning Officer had recommended refusing the application.
